For me, I hate having payments and I plan to build up my GT...FYI there is a guy on MPH forums running a mongoose vortech sc kit (non intercooled), exhaust, and suspension/tires running 11.4 in the 1/4 mile.
Ummm he said a stock cobra....your car is very very far from being stock.

Hell, I have seen 8psi vortechs on 99-04 GTs making like 370 RWHP. MPH is promising me at LEAST 400 to the wheels and more like 420 the way the car is setup now (with a vortech @ 8psi ).
Put it this way, MDvaldosta (where did he go anyway?) was running 11.5x's on slicks, with a full boltons GT and stage 1 cams (and a non intercooled vortech). You arn't gonna run a 11.50 on a exaust/tune/pully cobra, that is for sure.
I have thought long and hard on the GT vs Cobra thing. Hell, I test drove one not a month ago (cobra) But I know that if I had gotten the cobra, I most likely would never have gotten around to getting a aftermarket blower, or a 3000 dollar rebuild of the rearend. On the other hand, with the GT I can afford to put a vortech on it, and have the 8.8 beefed up a bit to handle some slicks.
I guess you just have to decide both how fast you want to go, and how much money you can come up with to drop on the car. The pro to buying a cobra is you get it, and with very little money out of pocket (you have a monthly, but you don't need 4K in the bank for mods) you have a very fast car. The con is that after about 475 RWHP you are already looking at buying ANOTHER aftermarket blower to really go fast.
On the other hand, if you do buy that aftermarket blower, you are gonna have one wild *** streetcar.

One thing to think about, that I did:
A blown stock bottom end bolton GT is faster than a stock blower pully/chipped/exhaust cobra.
Your gonna need to steup to a aftermarket blower ot run with a blown GT. That cobra is one big heavy pig.

2v or 4v....hmmm
Forged 4v.
It's a no brainer.

A ported eaton with pulley, chip, and exhaust can get close to 500 at the wheels cant it????? Wheres the reasoning here???
Maybe if ur gonna build a track car you could do a SRA swap in the cobra basically for FREE. Add in axles and gears and i think the cobra will eat anything else with a ford symbol on it.

Ya but with the cobra you are spending much more money on the car itself. Face it guys, this is an endless battle, and either way you will have a bad a$$ car.

How do u figure? A blown stock bottom end Gt will usually hit what? 420rwhp??????? Maybe a bit more safely for everyday driving.

Go to just about any SVT forum, and ask em what a pully/chip/exaust 03 will run with the best tires the stock IRS can handle. I know personally I haven't seen to many even dipping into the 11.80s. Hell, most of em I have seen are running in the 12.2 range. Even on drag radials only, MD's GT was running 12.0s. The videos are posted somewhere in the vids section on this site if you do a search.
And a straight axle swap is FAR from free. There is a ton of **** you need along with it. MM&FF did a story on one shops 8.8 swap, and the total before install was over 2500 bucks!!!
I'm not saying the GT is a better car, far from it. Alot comes with the cobra the GT doesn't have (6 speed, brakes, etc) But if you have the cash and are set to pull the trigger on a blower for a GT I would seriously consider sticking with the GT.
Edit: I also wanted to mention that Tim at MPH told me he has a cammed/boltons GT with their Mongoose kit (vortech, no cooler) making 440 safe RWHP.

I am at the point where im bout to add a vortech sq -trim to my 2000 Ford mustang GT but with the $5000 sticker for installation parts, clutch, and guages to match.

MPH will sell you a vortech kit with no intercooler for 3800 with tune. All you need to do is install the blower and then drive the car over there without getting on it. Hell, Tim is telling me he can probably get the tune dead on the 1st or 2nd try thru the mail anyway.
1200 bucks seems like alot for a clutch and gauges.
