Default what type of brake fluid?

Quick question, what type of brake fluid do we use DOT 3 or DOT 4? gonna change my pads when i get off work...and no smart *** remarks like go read your manual, because if i had one i would. thank you!!

when you compress the calipers it will push the fluid back in to the master cylinder most time there is no need to add fluid.

my brake reservior is already full so i'll have to take some out when i compress the caliper. i don't want to put the same fluid back in when i'm done so thats why i need to know which one i need

stanghead96 i already checked, it doesn't say on the cap
