Default x-pipe install Q?

I just bought a 2004 GT and spoke with a muffler shop about an x-pipe install. I'm going to do it myself like I did with my old 94 GT's H-pipe. The guy said something about the oxygen sensors. I guess what he was talking about was an extension cable or something. I found a fairly reasonable off-road x-pipe through texas hot rods on e-bay. its a UPR. If someone could enlighten me as to what all I'll need to hook it up without the check engine light coming on I'd appreciate it.

Well if its an off-road you wont need extensions, you will need MILs. They just plug into your O2 sensors and simulate a give the computer a number preventing the CEL to come on. Or you could get a handheld tuner and use that to turn your rear O2 sensor off.

Yea you need 2 for the rear O2 sensors. They run 70 bucks at the most. But stay away from Steeda's. They have a very bad reputation for causing problems.

The extensions is for catted midpipes. In 2004 the location of the bungs (the little holes where you put your O2 sensors so they can get a reading of your exhaust) are in a different location from 99-03. Therefor, you need a little extension that you plug into your O2 sensor so it can reach the bungs on the new midpipe. The reason some saying you need them and some saying you dont, is one. because no uncatted midipipe will require them, and two, because some companies (UPR for example) have a pipe specifically for the 2004 model. It is the same as the 99-03, just the bungs are in a different location so the O2 sensors on the O4s can reach without needing extensions. Capiche?
