If my oil pressure switch did fail would I still get a reading in my cluster?

Ignore the reading you got in your cluster. You should never use the HEC diagnostics to begin with for anything other than a digital speedo or tach.

If you had a failure, you would have engine parts laying on the ground or you would have a CEL on.

Thats what I was thinking. I must admit that the digital speedo/tach is pretty nifty.....

It is pretty cool, I wish it were easily visible though.

Does the trip meter reset for you guys when you do the diagnostic procedure? I really wish it didn't so i could use the digital speedo all the time.

If you set it to show your actual mileage when you begin to start the procedure, it won't reset your trip.

I used to get pissed when I would lose my trip readings so I could calculate an average MPG after my 4.30 gear swap.

+1. I just like to see the numbers fly like crazy under hard acceleration.

Also, when the car isnt running I get a 255 oil pressure reading (which is supposed to happen with the car not running), but when I start the car, it goes to 0, is that expected to happen?
