Default yet another noise on my 97

Well I have a 97 GT 5 speed. If it sits for any period of time, and then I fire it up, I go to turn the steering wheel, and no matter which way I turn it (left or right) I hear a clunk, and then the rest of the time it's running it's fine. I turn it off for 20 mins, fire it up, no noise. I let it sit an hour or more and start it, and clunk the first turn of the wheel. Just kinda odd, could my rack and pinion be going?

anyone? It's pretty confusing and I hope I don't have a more serious problem here.

More likely you just have some bushings somewhere going bad or possibly a ball-joint issue.

You'll have to just get under and inspect the front suspension.

If you are going to be a douche to people who have 10x more posts than you, not many people are going to want to help you out with all the stupid questions you ask constantly....

I was just playing around, I mean who would take that seriously. Do you think I would really tell someone to sell their car and mean it lighten up.

ok guys thanks for the help. It has 109000 miles on it. Runs absolutely great, but needs some work here and there. I have inspected the front end many times at school with huge pry bars and dial indicators. can't really find anything loose.

And no I refuse to sell the car. Yes I know it has a lot of miles on it and needs some work, but I paid a good price for it last year and I am studying to be a master tech. So the repairs it needs are chances for me to learn. Not to mention it has all the bells and whistles that were available on it. Leather everything, when it's washed it looks gorgeous. (we have a house going up next to us and do not have a garage, so all the dust from their crap gets on my family's cars)

So of you guys that responded have you heard of this problemo? It's kind of a new sound to me, haven't heard it before and it's odd how it has to sit a while before it happens.
