What's involved in a NPI to PI motor swap?
Ok so I spun a rod bearing, I'm pretty damned sure of it. I thought it was my clutch, which went dead a day after the knock started, but it is still there just as it was before...slight throttle results in a big knock.
But, the point is, this pos 98 GT motor was burning oil on cylinder #5 like a BITCH anyways, and I am looking around for a complete 4.6 PI motor.
My question is, does it matter if I have a romeo or windsor PI motor to swap in? I have 15 bolt valve covers now, so IIRC that is a romeo motor. But will, say, a windsor PI motor bolt up the same to the bellhousing, etc...
And besides that, any harness plugs that are going to be different, or sensors I'll have to swap over or something like that, will my stock 98 H pipe still fit onto the headers?
Anything and everything, I need to know. If it's just a straight forward pull out old, drop in new, and that's it...then that'd be great.
