My car DIED!!!! HELP!

RE: My car DIED!!!! HELP!
I dont think its the alternator.. if you have someone who can jump you there is an easy way to tell if thats causing it or not
It sounds like your MAF is dead.. Double check to make sure its plugged in good. Was it surging at all before it died? And will it continue to start? If it will still start its probably not a fuel pump (could be the filter) as if that died, you wouldnt start again till you replaced it.
Did it throw a code of any type?

I would say alternator as well, but the car keeps starting back up...that's strange. I hate to say it, but have you checked to make sure your accessory belt is still on the car...?

RE: My car DIED!!!! HELP!
I had a problem similar to this on two seperate occasions. The first time wsa after I changed my intake the bolt was loose by the MAF and it came apart a little. I tightened it and was good to go. The other time my stock throttle body has a screw for your idle it actually fell out and was lying on my block. My car would only run if I kept reving it high. I found the screw, put it back in and was fine.

RE: My car DIED!!!! HELP!
this sounds very familar to the Idle Air Controller problem that i experianced just before the end of the summer last year.
The car will start absolutely fine, then the RPM's just drop, and refuse to do anything unless you feed it some fuel.
It happened to me driving once whne the car just shut off and i dangerously rolled through a stop sign cause i wasnt expecting to have to hammer the brakes.
Actually, I have a nice little picture of where the IAC is,, just tap it a couple times to free up the spring, then take it home and clean it out with some carburator cleaner

RE: My car DIED!!!! HELP!
what could the cold air do? If its off track then the air would be coming in without the filter but that wouldnt cause it to die, maybe if the air filter is dirty but it wouldnt cause it to die. If you can start your car for more then 10 seconds tap the MAF with a screw driver and if it starts to surge and act funny then replace it. Check the fuel filter and check all your sensors. Codes.

if it was the alt and the battery was dead then it wouldnt start over and over again.

And, if it was the MAF or CAI or something like that.. why would the battery warning lamp light up?
