Default speed-cal

About a year aago I bought someone elses project. To me it was the best financial route to go. It's a 2000 GT with 34,000 miles. It has been lowered, Nitrous, and msd window switch. I have added a few mods myself and today while I was putting on a new shifter handle I found a box hooked up that says SPEED-CAL on it.
My question is , does anyone know what this is. Any help would be great.

Thanks

does the car have gears?

the box is used to calibrate your speedo when you have gears installed.

I don't know that, I wish I knew. I will admit that I am still very new to all of this.

Speed Cal

There are little dip switches inside of it you set to calibrate your speedo after changing gears or tire sizes. If you dont know what gears are installed, and your speedometer is accurate, you can open the box up, see where its set, then contact the manufactuer and they can tell you based on those settings what should be in it.

+1. I'd bet it has gears in it.... You could always just check yourself. Either get up to 70MPH or so in 5th and use an RPM calculator, or just count how many rotations of the driveshafte/axe rotation.
