I beat a Z28 from a stoplight...not that my car is faster, I just know how to launch properly and I change the tires when the tread gets thin. Alot of people just let off the clutch and hammer the gas...then they spin tires and are left in the dust...it's when I get to the track that I keep quiet. Guys with Z28s there know a little more about proper launching than joe shmoe on the street...

LT1 is in the 93-97 models, the LS1 is in the 98-02 models. You more than likely ran a pre-'93 model if you beat him. Unless, of course, you're highly modded. The LT1 and LS1 is a GM motor and is in both f-body cars.

Oh yeh, I only lost to a 99 LS1 by 1 and a quarter car lengths in my 98 GT, its stock too AHAHA.
