Default 5.4 replacement

I have a dilema. My 99 GT has a rod knock. I figured i would replace the 4.6 with a 5.4 but i cannot find any real info on this. I realize the deck is taller. What about exhaust? Computer? Intake? I would like the extra cubes if this isn't a big deal to do.
Any help?
Thanks,
Bill

talk to dark_horse he has it in his 96. you can use the same exhaust. Computer would have to be dinotuned for the 5.4. you would use the intake from the 5.4. Im not 100% on all this because I am still trying to get it all together for my mustang but people switch to the 5.4 all the time.

look in to a DOHC 4.6 if i coluld do it again thats what i would do. they make more HP and respond better from mods. the 5.4 (if this is what you choose) will have a few problems getting in bout nothing that is really that hard. if you need more infor look for my wright up its called something like "NPI 4.6 to PI 5.4 swap"

so you would use the DOHC PI heads if you redid it? are these heads alot diffrent then the SOHC (would you need new headers, cams intake and stuff like that)?

nope, cannot really make an SOHC a DOHC, the GTs had 4.6L SOHC, while the Cobra engine was a 4.6L DOHC. He's basically saying get a Cobra engine, I think they were in Lincolns? correct me if I'm wrong. Cobra engine = V8, 32 VALVE, DOHC. The Lincoln Navigator has a 5.4 V8 32V DOHC, so if your still set on 5.4 then go ahead and use the Navi engine cuz its similiar to the Cobra.

would you be able to use the same headers from the SOHC or would you have to have some custom made headers?
