Does anyone know the difference between the engines in the Mach1 and the 99-02 Cobra's. Both have 4V 4.6 but the Cobra is rated at 320 and The Mach1 is 310 if thats right, seem's like pretty much the same engine. What's the difference if there is one? And are the internals the same? And are they as strong as the 03/04 Cobra's internals?

The valve train, cams, and compression ratio are different on the mach 1 compared to a NA Cobra if I remember correctly.

i know cams are different not sure about the rest. Machs are also underated by as much as 15hp and 15 tq. the link i had doesnt work now though

No 02 Cobra except in Australia but yea I know hat u mean the 99,01 I would think the Mach 1 would be right there with them practically same Engine V8 32V DOHC. Anyone know anything elese ?

there actually quite different, the basics are the same but the mach engine is much more powerful, its underrated and the old cobra motors were overrated. there might be a sticly on this if u care to check.

As far as I know they are not forged. In fact from a build up point of view 99 and 01 cobras are the worst (better than gts v6s though) At least from 96-98 you got the best block ford ever put in a car (teksid block with support girdle is capable of handeling up to 1500hp). and in 03/04 everything is forged inside so all you need to do is rip off the eaton blower and replace with any high quailty sc or turbo and your good up to 800hp. (of course you'll need to upgrade the fuel system, but very minimal things here and there) If you're looking for a new car I wouldn't buy a 99 or 01 cobra, but what do I know I bought a 99 gt.
