Just look at the mods and the times they're running. Good drivers can't hide ya know

People who talk about how good of a driver they are, hardly ever live up to their own claims. The best driver I know will NEVER claim to be a good driver.
read the last sentance in post # 9. I can also vouch for JayC, for an old man he's got it goin' on.

Good info? But I know its possible to shift without the clutch. Motorcycles do it all the time. Anyone know how to do it? I'm not sure it makes any sense in cars like these. I have a budy that does it with his truck some times, not sure its possible at high RPMs.
Truckers call it "floating" gears. I shift my Eaton 10-speed all day without using a clutch, unless I'm taking off from the line ofcourse. Its a matter of matching the travel speed or road speed with the engine speed. Easy to do with semis and big trucks, harder to do with tight car trannys that are synchromesh operated.
Exactly this, you just lift off the gas, wait until the rpm's get down to where it would be in the next gear, and it SHOULD slide right in. However, it's much much tougher on cars, I've actually never even tried it on the mustang because it doesn't benefit you any. In large trucks it's pretty easy and helps you because the clutches are usually much stiffer and you have to press them a lot farther to the floor to engage them.

I got one for ya. last weekend I had my buddy come down and race my car with me at the autocross. It was his first time so I went first as he watched.I ran an 83.01 then he drove he got an 83.00 .LOL
Then the second run I ran 73.47 and he ran a 73.17 he bet me everytime we ran

He has a big chevy D-Max crewcab lifted 4X4,with 400hp and 1000ftlbs turque that he drag races his best 1/4 mile time was 12.XX.

It just goes to show you the driver mod works

the driver makesALL the difference if you ask me. one night i got into it with a mildly moddedGT-R (yes, a skyline) from a 20 rolland i nosed him out until around 110mph, everytime he changed gear he fell back a little... the guy was absolutelyterrible. i think that had to bemy best race ever

personally, i learned to drive stick at12 inmy dad's'85 chevy. about a year later the clutch cable broke so he had to start it in 1st gear and shift without it, after he got it fixed i begged him to teach me. that skill actually came in handy a few months ago when i sprained my ankle...... stupid dirt bikes [:@]
