Man that sucks.... I totaled my gf's 03 v6 last winter on some black ice. We slammed into a concrete wall on the interstate at around 70mph. We usually dont have to worry about ice in alabama... but....

Ill go ahead and post your pics in the thread for ya.

Man reading all these posts just makes me even more nervous about driving in snow. We just got hit with a snow storm here in NY, its passed now but streets are still icy and all that. I still drive my stang butI have snow tires (blizzacks) and the back and about 300 pounds worth of sand bags in the trunk. It really helps butI still drive pretty slow no matter where I am...I refuse to lose my GT the wat I lost my 6er....

That sucks about your car. I hate black Ice also especially when it's under an overpass on the highway.[:@] It's getting harder to see the stuff to because they only make roads out of that cheap black asphalt stuff. Atleast in Michigan anyway

Black ice is dangerous stuff, it doesn't matter what you're driving. AWD doesn't do a thing on ice either. I found that out in my old Wrangler. We got 26" in Raleigh, NC "of all places" one year. Four-wheel drive worked great on the snow, but mid-day alot of the snow melted and re-froze that evening. At that point, it was like I didn't even have FWD. I was sliding all over the place until I got home. Even the tractor-trailers were catching hell.

Glad you didn't get it any worse than you did. Those cables work good at slowing you down without doing too much damage.

yea, im glad it wasnt a guard rail....those cables chewed into my car, but not as bad as a guard rail smashing the whole side of it in.... $2100 was my estimate at the insurance place, on the way to a dealership for another estimate since the insurance place said 350 for a decklid and the dealership is 150...hopin to get it done at the dealership for cheaper than the insurance place and save a little cash since its a $500 deductible
