I tried this, and the only place it would increase idle is if I sprayed almost directly on where the EGR connnects to the throttlebody.

replace egr gasket or it sounds to me like your egr valve may be leaking.

Hmm. So it is not normal for it to increase idle a little bit at the egr valve connection?

no it shouldnt affect it at all the egr valve should be sealed from atmosphere, a change in idle would indicate a vacuum leak.

Hmm. That makes sense. ShouldI just go ahead and replace the whole egr valve and gasket? It is not the cheapest of parts.

i would verify if it is the gasket (id put some red rtv silicone on the old gasket to try and seal it), or if its the valve itself. if its the valve itself then yes replace both.

Would a stuck valve cause the afformentioned codes? I've been reading and some of the posts said that the car would throw a code indicating the EGR valve.

either way the solution points to replacing it but even if it was stuck open spraying itshouldnt change the idle which indicates a vacuum leak. open or closed it should be sealed from the atmosphere.

One of the possible causes for P1131 and P1151 (listed in the shop manual link I posted earlier) is a leaking EGR valve gasket, and you have established that you have a vacuum leak at the EGR valve--I don't understand what more you are looking for, sounds like you're getting close to Miller time to me...
