Default 100 octane is expensive

Seriously, I thought it was going to be like 4-4.50 a gallon (considering regular is 2.65 here in town), nope.It was a cool $5.99/gallon, 14 gallons (and I only got about 180miles out of that) , man that was painful. Can't really notice any difference in the car, so its definately not worth it until I'm tuned, but still.

Dang man, we pay 4.59 for 110 around here. 100 is something like 4.00, but I don't ever run it.

dont use a higher octane unless you need to. its a waste of money. it wont do anything to your peformance. now if your running 20+ lbs. of boost then you may need to use it to prevent detonation.

there was actually a test done with different fuels and fuel additives (like the famous octane booster) and they all increased octane very little andyou actually lost about 2% horsepower. if i find the link to the video ill post it.

My Gawd, I wish it were that inexpensive, but its the only place that sells over 91 in arizona that I know of, guess its just supply and demand.

I just put my 8 rib set up on, Im getting tuned on friday for 16lbs of boost with the t-trim and I'm upping the RPM limit from the very conservative 6250 to 6800RPM, I should be near 600rwhp, or something close. I only see around 12-13.5 depending on how cold it is.

I only put in 100 octane so that when I go get tuned on friday I know nothings going to happen, and thats what I plan on running from now on since I have my other daily driver running. Just commenting on how expensive its going to be

We're not talking about STP octane booster. Race fuel. With boost or N20, you can FOR SURE utilize it's extra octane. Timing= hp , so if I can advance timing 2-3 degrees, and it not detonate, I can see GREAT HP gains.

My car is mid-high compression, and fairly built, so take this for what it's worth. I can tell a difference with 110 gas, and my own "custom" tune, even just on the motor.

yeah it is. 93 octane is like 3.12 a gallon, and can only get that 20 miles away. Then got 2 gallons of race fuel, is like 8.50 a gallon

Well at least now I don't feel bad that I paid 6.00 for mine. If I didn't love the AZ weather so much I would move to TN, they have some neat laws

Is that 100 octane unleaded?

Kinda off topic but just wondering what you are running for a fuel system if you plan to push 600hp? Also what maf? and blow thru or draw thru?
