Default clutch adjustment

is there any way to adjust my clutch with the stock cable, or do i need to get an aftermarket adjustable cable, like the Steeda? i've also seen firewall adjusters, can i use one of those with my stock cable, or would it be best to use it with the aftermarket cable?

did you get a new quadrant also? i'm not sure if it's necessary, but i figured if i'm going to be replacing the cable then i might as well do it all.

The stock quadrant and "semi-automatic" adjuster is the fundamental cause of the problem. Get an after market quadrant and firewall adjuster and keep the stock cable (which is superior to most aftermarket adjustable cables I've seen).I have UPR's triplehook quadrant andQuick Click adjuster--they would have been one of my first mods if I had realised how much better the clutch would feel by getting rid of the plastic OEM junk...

thanks, this is what i was wondering... i wasn't sure if the firewall adjuster could be used with a stock cable or only with an aftermarket one. i saw the UPR quadrant and adjuster in a magazine ad but hadn't heard any reviews on them so i wasn't sure if i'd go with UPR or Steeda. any comments about the UPR products?

im not sure, but if the 4.6 quadrant is like the old foxbody ones then yes with a spec stage 1 id change it

i threw a spec stage 1 in my 88gt and a few weeks later i killed the stock quadrant

again, not sure if these ones are the same as the old 5.0s though but it sounds like they are

Would killing a quadrant give the clutch pedal a "shaky" feel to it, and constantly change the pedal travel to enage the clutch? Because I have stated problem and would like to fix it.
