Default MGW install

so i got the MGW today for my 01 GT... Nice.... One problem i started theinstalation processbut the stock shifter is lock tight on the darn tranny.in the instalation intructions itsays to gentlysmack the stock shifter from side to side to loosen it.30 minutes later its still just as stuck. im about to pull my hair out.[:@]any suggestions would help. thanks guys!!!!!

pull harder, its not loctited on.....some people have a harder time than others.... pull up....theres been a few members who have had to use extreme force to pull it off...mine popped right off....pull harder sissy

I tried just like you said.... damn thing wont budge. not to sound cheap,I just hate taking it to a shop when its somethin that i could of done. i just dont have the time to pull & pull like an idiot cause this darn thing aint moving at all.[:@]maybe if i got under the car & beat it from the bottom with a flat head screw driver & a mallet... too bad I dont have my ramps right now.

pull harder!!!!! ive never seen anyone who couldnt get it off....some people have pryed it off with a flathead and a rubber malet, but i think thats a bad idea.......if you dont get that shifter off in the next hour, im reoking your man card

Alright dude.... I had the SAME problem
My **** was concreted down and would not budge with me and my friend. So... we took something to cover up the shifter **** to protect it and then i pulled and my buddy took a rubber mallet tothe side of the **** (same direction that I was pulling in)LOL. Finally after pulled muscles and a back ache... that son of a bitch popped off.

Don't feel bad though.

its RTV siliconed on the top of the tranny. put your shifter **** back on and hit that ***** f_cka like you got a pair. Hit it side to side like you would a prostitute.

I popped it of with a pry bar. It was in there pretty damn tight, though.
