Parts for 3650 tranny??
Due to the price of an auto I'm thinking of just building the 3650 to handle the power. Does anyone know where I can buy "bulletproof" parts for the 3650? These things are fairly simple to build but I can't find any parts anywhere.

RE: Parts for 3650 tranny??
I researched this last year when my 3650 went out and found out this. There is no upgrade parts avalible for the 3650(Ford as absolute rights to all parts for the TREMEC 3650 and no body can touch them without going thru Ford). However the 3550 does have upgrade parts and eventually transformed in to the TKO 500/600. So the best thing to do is just get a TKO 500, or if your lucky enough to find a 3550(they are around but not the easiest to find) and want to fool around with finding the parts and having the tranny rebuilt, would be your option. Either way good luck.

It's crazy expensive to get the auto built to handle the power. Cost is over 3,000 for the build and converter. I can trade my 3650 for my buddies TKO 500 though. He's selling his car and don't care what tranny is in it as long as it works.

The TKO isn't bulletproof either. Although way better than a 3650 or T45, I've heard of some horror stories with them. And for me to spend $2k+ on something that may or may not break, isn't gonna happen. Used T-45's are everywhere and oh so cheap

I've heard bad storys about the TKO 600. I only know one other person that has the 500 and he cuts 1.4 60s on slicks pulling the tires. The one I might get has had 538 rwhp run through it for a while with no problems. I wouldn't spend money on one either though because they are only rated for 500 lbs of torque but this is a free swap.
