Another vin number question !
I know there have been a lot of questions about this. But my 8th letter on my vin is x. But the donor car I got it out of was a 97. I have been told that x comes in 01 and up. Can anyone help me figure this out?

First of all it's a VIN, not a VIN number. Secondly, the X just means it was a V8. My 8th digit is an X as well.

RE: Another vin number question !
X Simply means the car contains a GT V8 from the Windsor plant in Ontario.
My 96 GT has an X as well.. Funny story.
After looking up my VIN in my FoMoCo books (I'm a Ford Technician), I found that my VIN did not match the Text specifications. A '4', a 'W' or I believe a 'T' is what the book described to be the engine check digit. Therefore, my VIN was unknown to Ford. However, after a rendezvous with my Parts department, I discovered via old parts slips and availibility checks that an X code was stamped for all V8 4.6's manufactured at the Windsor Plant. Other numbers correspond to several other Engine plants around NA.
