its a cool idea but theres a reason that its never made it in to production its way too slow and i bet the cost is out the roof. but still a cool thing i think that there was a couple of early mustangs 64 1/2 or 65's that had a power retractable hardtop also.

I actually have #447 of 499 1995 Cobra Hardtop Convertibles ever made. They were only made in 1995 and were supposed to be ready for the 1994 model year, but got delayed. They used Henry Ford's old saying you can have any color as long as it is black. All 499 came in black with tan interior. I picked mine up in southern Wisconsin 2years back. It is a great car, all stock except the exhaust. The previous owner had to use it as a daily driver for a year and had to commute 50 miles each way to work, so he ended up putting 104,000 miles on it. I have only put 2000 miles on it since I have had it. The top works perfect. You can't tell it is a convertible with the top on and never have I had a drop of water in the car after washing it. There are two pins at the front end of the top that slide in and the normal convertible top latches lock it in. There are two hook arms that go in back by the quarter window and lock in with arms and then one last pivot arm that locks the rear center part of the window. It has a wire connection so you can use the doom light and the re-defog. There is even a two piece "boot" cover the goes i the back so it has the normal rear shelf in front of the window.
If you go to the Black Mustang Club web site you can find a thread on the various owners out there. I have only heard about maybe 10 out there. If you can find one like I did, grab it. I know the blue book is only $7500 for one right now, but as rare as they are, they are worth a lot more. How much do you want to give me for mine
