How to paint interior trim

Very nice write up. My only suggestion is that you include the brand and type (low, medium, high adhesion) of masking tape used. You did an excellent job of masking off the unpainted areas. Someone else may overlook this step if you don't include it.

im not sure on the kind of tape but it was a automotive grade tape for painting and masking. i want to say it was a 3m product. all there automotive tapes are a low/medium adhesion and they leave no sticky crap behind. good point thanks

Just did this with red paint to the insert around my guages(not the piece behind the glass) just around it. I used duplicolor also and somehow I managed to screw it up. (I thought it was the adhesion stuff you used first that messed it up) so I sanded it down again and applied paint without the adhesion promoter BUT.. To my suprise I grabbed the wrong paint! I used the High Heat paint that was meant for my calipers instead which is actually dupli-color engine enamel... looks good. when it cures I plan on sanding it with 1200-2000 grit and applying another coat and to finish it off some clear coat. whoah that was a long post!

I'm not sure that it was the adhesion promoter that caused the paint to be flaky and "nasty" for lack of a better word. But it globbed up REALLY bad. Anyways the engine enamel dried and it no longer matches my paint :/ so im going to sand it all off again..

id say that caused it because if you used armorall ever on those parts its still there even if it dosent look like it and nothing will bond with it!!. i made the same mistake on some pratice parts before i tryed it on my good parts. clean it real good with wax and grease remover, flip the cloth alot use two if you have too, then let it air dry for about 15 min.
