question about tapping my oil pan

i bought one of the bendy magnets to stick in the hole and fish out the metal lol...ive been looking though, and i dont even find punch that go to 9/16" in diameter

I start with (what I will call) your typical size punch (a little bigger then a pen), then use a 7/16 punch. From here, it needs to be enlarged a little more. I use a 3/8 deep tapered socket. Sorry, I do not recall the size. This will roll/open the hole enough to get the tap to bite. Pack the tap good with heavy grease.

Do not drill it.

I punched a hole and welded a AN fitting over it. There is no way I could see to have a secure enough tap that it wouldn't leak.

It's alot easier than it sounds, just follow the instructions, and when you tap it put alot of grease on the tap,change the oil when you're done.
