Exhaust questions
 

I bought a few months ago a very clean low mileage 96 GT convertible. It came from the dealer with a set of side pipes (I think it was a dealer installed option). I understand the muffler has a front inlet and outlet. I'd like it to sound a little more throaty. I've been looking on Youtube and really like the way the cobras sound, and like other exhausts also, but want to keep the side pipes I have. What can I put on there as far as a high flow cat or muffler that will bolt in place and do what I want? I'd prefer to keep it legal, but we don't have inspections here, so I don't have to pass smog or anything like that.

Any ideas?

I'd start by seeing what you have on the car, take some measurements...I love my Basanni Catted X w/Flowmasters on my Cobra...Look at a Jegs or Summitt catalog once you have some measurements...

If you're will to pay someone to do fabrication you can have about any muffler you want put in there.

I like mac catbacks..there mufflers are called flowpath's i tihnk..and with an O/R H pipe ( no cats) it will sound awesome!

remove the cats or replace them with high flow cats would help.

You most probably have the SVO exhaust..which is tits. I would just get the muffler of your choice ancd have an exhaust shop weld it in.

OK, I searched the web and discovered that this is probably the case. Part of my question was about which muffler would do what I wanted. Should I do a muffler or should I look at the cat first? Are these mufflers front inlet AND front outlet?

yes they are front in and out. if i was you i would do the cats first. they are there for emmisons but they are also there to cut down on exhuast noise.

If i was you i would leave that catback be, that thing is badass. Go with an o/r h pipe
