Default 40,000 on blistiens?!

Recentally while searching craigslist i found a used set of blisten shocks/ struts for a great price. The seller says they have 40,000 miles and he changed his set up to coil over. the price is 350. Would they be worth buying and would i encounter problems? Do they wear out??

...

I would think that they are past the halfpoint of their life span at least with that many miles. What do they go for new?

my car came stock with bilsteins and they are still in with over 100k miles and no signs of leaks are visible. Car is still comfortable even after the spring swap.
