5.4L SWAP
#23
I have not heard of anyone, but I am doing it. If you are going to use a 2v you will have to convert the harness/ECU to a GT, using a 3v you will have to lock the cams to use a GT harness/ECU, and 4v you will have to use a cobra or mach 1 harness. I am doing a 4v with cobra heads and an intake from the Ausi Falcon boss 260. I picked up a few from ausi ebay as they are hit and miss when they come up for auction or for sale.

So the most cost effective way to do the 5.4 is the 2v then because parts for the mach and snakes are generally more, and the 3v there is some extra playing.
But to do this, then Id have to do a complete drive train right, like GT Tranny and 8.8, not to mention the hood clearance issue, as I would like it all tucked away as best as possible.
Hmm, Building my own v6 still seems the most viable but there is a certain coolness to having a 5.4 in the car,

Once you start to get some power out of a v6 then you have to change the rearend anyway. Then there is the price to get good power from the v6; just as expensive if not a little more than an engine swap. Having a fast 6 is just as cool/different as a 5.4L.
