Default midpipe questions help me out!

so my friend offered to sell me his o/r x pipe for 100 bucks and i had a few questions. 1, how much horsepower can i expect to gain over my stock catted H? and 2, will this mess with my a/f ratio?

thanks a bunch

What kind is it? You will need MILs or a tuner to eliminate the CEL from coming on and maybe o2 extensions depending on the year of your car. As far as power goes I have a Mac pro chamber I could def feel the diff in power especially in the mid range and top end. I cant give you an exact number but noticeable, A mod that i would recommend to anyone.

MIL stands for malfunction indicator light all it is a diode or something like that that provides the requied amount of electrical resistance to fool the ecm into thinking the cars o2s are working properly. if you have no mufflers your car is already pretty loud, with an o/r mid pipe it will be obnoxiously loud. i dont know about cali, but yea you will probably have problems with emissions. As far as power i honestly dont know 5-10 HP sounds right like i said you could feel the improvement the engine revs faster and you could just tell it was breathing easier

It should not effect your A/F ratio, but honestly just get a tuner so you can turn those rear O2's off. You will get a service engine light at some point after installing because the rear O2s are going to sense that your cats aren't working..because they aren't there, obviously. I put my prochamber on and the sound alone was just awesome I thought. I definitely did notice some more pull on the mid to high end. It was the only mod besides by 3.73's that I could actually feel. And I don't care what anyone says, I KNOW I lost some power on the low end with the prochamber, but no big deal. I'll take more high end power and that sound any day. To me, 8-10 RWHP does not sound unreasonable at all to expect from a midpipe..and another 10-15 with a tuner I believe.

stock cats to no cats expect a peak gain of 10-15 rwhp after tune.

...Mustang will sound very different as well! ...MIL elim. cost around $65 or you can get a tune and have the rear o2 sensors turned off.
