if you plan on staying all motor go 10:1-11.5:1, 11.5 might be a little much 11:1 is a good number.
I'll be building/forging for a good long time before I start adding power adders.

well the compression ratio is mostly determined by your pistons and rods, but has a slight influence from your heads. the CR is determined by how much air is in the combustion chamber (cc) at the bottom of the pistons stroke, to the top of a pistons stroke.

example, when a piston is at the bottom of its stroke the ccs are 900(this number varies based on a few things) when its at the top of its stroke there are 100 ccs that would make ur compression ratio 900:100 simplified is 9:1 compression ratio for that short block.

If you change your mind and consider running a different motor you should look into getting a dart block. Good stuff, and the pricing is reasonable for the quality.

why not just swap over to a small block Ford? Change over to a tubular 1995 K member, bolts right up, and you can drop basically any 302/351 engine in there without a hassle. they'll match up with your current stuff, and my god, it would be cheap as hell because the parts are everywhere. Not to mention you'd have a true sleeper, no one would know that you're running a pushrod.

my thoughts exactly...If I had a reason to dump my motor I would be all over that idea. I love the old pushrods...but that might have to do with where more of my experience is at but yeah. Can't argue with cheaper go-fast parts and they sound pretty friggin sweet too.

Good point. I might look into that.
Nothing like getting torque at 2500 rpm instead of 4800 rpm...Sure as hell would make driving around town funner.

Yeah. What kind of numbers are 5.0 running with a H/C/I ? Any idea?

http://treperformance.com/i-90331-tr...ford-5-0l.html

you could probably shop around for similar parts for a lower price. But if you are just using some old 302 you won't have much tied up in the block/trans and computer. 350hp sounds like what you were looking for too.

EDIT: just to give you an idea I bought a wrecked (badly) 87gt with a working engine/trans for $175.00. Hell I sold the cowl hood off it for $150 and the wheels for $100.

ran another search and found this one.

like I said, if anything ever happens to my engine or trans I will probably drop in a 302 and slap that ^^^ kit on it.

I have a buddy here in town with a HCI 302 in his 81 Rx7 running around ~300 at the wheels on a Mustang Dyno, and he doesn't have a very agressive cam at all, he's running less lift than I do.

I've seen a guy around here running a Turbo 347 in his 98 Gt putting down somewhere around 750+rwhp on pump gas.
