Sell the stang for a 10 sec. fox?
 

so the guy came over and looked at my car he wants it for 14 grand w/o the cobra bumper. so i looked at this 1990 fox mustang heres whats done to it. he is asking 10,500 obo. no rust under the body and the paint is very nice. he said he raced a 10.78 03 cobra and beat it by a fender but never raced at the track. what do you think should i do it??

car looks 100's better in person. sounds great too.

I would be wanting some proof about the car. Dyno sheet, time slips, performance shop receipts. W/o this stuff, it is hard to go and trade someone your car that you know exactly what it is and what it is capable of, for something that has a bunch of performance and is supposidly a 10sec car but "has never been raced" you typically don't build a 10sec car and not race it. If it is legit, I would say go for it. It looks nice and if the motor is what he says then it would probably be a sweet ride. Good luck.

That car has the potential.. no doubt. I would build something tho.. buying it is lame

I'd keep the new edge and put a few grand into it and be as fast or faster then that fox. And i never believe a word that comes out of anybodys mouth these days when there trying to sell you something. I'd want to see receipts, dyno charts, etc. And like he^ said its no fun buying a car thats already built.

yeah i know that but i dont have 10 grand to put into the cae plus i couls still build it up a little more.

You don't know its tendencies, you don't know what what went into it, or if anything was rigged up to work right when it normally wouldn't have. It can cause alot of headache during repairs.

That fox is nice, but if i were in your shoes i think i would keep the 99 and just save some $$$ for more mods

i say keep your car or pocket those 14k for a future car.

no i dont dd it i have a f-150. which gets ****y gas milage.

Thats a nice fox body though I think you should keep your 99 or you could always sell for 14k add alittle more get a cobra :D

what year 351? or is it a new block? if it's a used or junkyard block, I'd be pretty weary. Those engines are still susceptible to splitting at 500+rwhp, which is kind of pathetic

why can't you just decide to keep your car for heavens sake? or do you really hate it that much? This is like the third time this week I've seen you ask about getting rid of it, and I don't get it. is there something wrong with the car?

honestly, even if you weren't looking to sell it and you had an offer of 13.5k, I would buy it in a heartbeat and put the money into savings. thats a damn good deal right now.

people, err, smart people always start way high, and work their way down. When I bought my car, he originally wanted it for 18k, I got him down to 13.5k.

Wait a while, and the price will drop like a brick. Like I said, unless he has a dart iron eagle block, or another high end block, his is likely to split if he runs it hard, which it sounds like he did.

sell your car for 13.5k, put it in a nice acct with 5% interest, and save up for a while and BUY a termi. Don't finance it, buy it outright. Insurance will be FAR cheaper if you buy it with cash than if you were to finance it, even on a 3yr loan.

The reason for this is the bank pretty much will dictate what level coverage you have to have, even if it's more than you would ever need. so if you go by them, not only do you have a car payment, but a huge insurance bill too.

I think that's the best idea.

or just wait to see how the new TF heads turn out and ur 2v GT will be able to compete with 02-04 cobras, this is coming from a person that owns an 02 GT and a 03 Cobra, honestly ppl think im nuts but i still like the GT more then the Cobra, i really am not a s/c guy, i like NA, and these new heads will make serious power and then u can add ur s/c and easily hit low 11's high 10's.

out of how many were produced, there are how many 10 second termi's? They're a dime a dozen now.

Yea that's a tall price for your car. It's very nice and has lots of mods, but still. I'd take 14 and roll. You can find a badass fox for 8-10., if that's what you're into.

That motor probably makes 500 at the crank. Depending all on the heads and cam. You aren't gonna split that block don't worry.

what ever happened to your mom saying if you sell it you can't get another mustang. I would sell it and sit on the cash for a bit.

if you did seel your car for 14k i would get anothe rnew edge such as a MAch 1 or 01 cobra or something. idk man its really up to you

I'd sell for 14k and look for a few months for a deal on a cobra. Or get a stock 4-5k car and save then resell it when you get the money for a cobra. I wouldn't buy that car though, It looks insane, but I just wouldn't buy a 10 second car that may or may not have been dogged.

I'd keep what you have (an I'm a Fox guy!)
