Another +1 to the Falkens, they are decent tires my friend ran them on his WRX, but when they too do get hot they get greasy.
I'm really likeing the Direzza Z1 Starspecs. They are a great summer tire, they actually get sticky after a hard run, like an R-comp will.

Just to give someone reading an idea, about how much are they a tire? Can you get a good amount of miles out of them?

I had about 5k miles and 5 auto x events on the fronts they they are down by about 1/3 tread.
+1 To that.

It requires more than a Sumi. I didn't say you needed R compound but running plastic tires doesn't help.

They are about $155 per tire for a 275/40. When you get into 18" they get much pricier. Up to $300+

This was an autocross we were actually spraying the tires w/ water to get them cold again. But his were only 235's so they get hot quick

great cornering and hold pretty well out of the hole
great wet traction no hydroplaning
20,000 miles and still holding strong
most won't like the $300 price tag though, but since tires are what are between me and the road i don't mind the price for a great tire.

This thread is a good idea, but we're talking about Mustang owners, not Lotus Elise owners.
The reality:
98% of the people on this site wouldn't be able to tell the difference between 2 different QUALITY street tires (non DRs), size and speed rating being equal. Most choose a tire because of appearance, brand loyalty, price or a combination of the 3.
Maybe a guide on HOW to choose a tire (instead of "get what I have") would be a better idea?
It's ridiculous for someone to say "These new tires are WAY better than my old, bald tires!!!!"
Of course they are, dummy. The new ones are FREAKIN' NEW!!!!!
