Gah! Do not put a synthetic into these transmissions. Use 3.2 quarts of either Dexron III/Mercon or Pennzoil(GM) Synchromesh. Sythetics will chew the synchros.

Synthetic is fine and has some real advantages and will not hurt your syncros.

Default Weighing in on fluid choices

Dexron (there is no "t") is fine for the 3650, however I prefer either GM Synchromesh or Royal Purple Synchromax. These fluids hold up better when beaten and their sling rate is better for synchronization. While synthetics do not hurt the transmission per se, you will generally have to stay with it forever. Synthetics tend to swell your seals, which means if you keep them in the gear box long enough and then go back to natural fluid the seals can shrink and fail. Basically, once you go with a synthetic fluid, stay with it. I have seen plenty of gear boxes with 30,000 miles on Synchromesh and it comes out almost as clean as it went in. I don't really know if the extra $$ for full synthetics net you much in performance or clean running. Just my 2 cents.
