It was actually a piece of cake. you have to take out the 2 tabs on the side of the column(1 on each a side). take out the 2 bolts. then the air bag lifts right off. make sure you disconnect the battery and wait 10 min before you do anything to let the power drain first though as i may disfigure your face. there is one electrical plug that goes to the bag itself that will need to be disconnected and you are done. takes 12 min to take the bag off. 10 min to let the electrical system drain and 2 min to take it off. very easy...

LOL, yea I knew there was a capacitor that takes a while to bleed off, other than that it sounds pretty easy. Thanks for the info man...

Looks good, but you didn't need to do 2 things.

1. Wait for the air bag capicator.
2. Use a puller.

I've taken off plenty of steering wheels, and while the service manuals always say to wait, I've never had one go off. Neither have any of the other guys I work with.

And for the puller, if you grab the sides of the wheel and wiggle while pulling back on it, it'll come right off.

Just some info for future reference to move things along quicker.

1)I personally would still wait. just to be on the safe side. I would hate to be the person who didnt and boom! i guess it is up to the installer though.

2) well we tried this tactic after stripping the steering wheel holes and could not get the damn thing off? Might just have been that my wheel has been on the car for 10 years... anyway, we also tried one person pulling and one tapping each side of the wheel with a rubber malet and still nothing. Then we found the clamp type puller in the garage and used it and it worked.

You could either, save 12 minutes and run the RISK of blowing off your head/snapping your neck, or just be patient, and prevent the risk of something happening, even if it's never happened to anyone you know.

I vote keep your neck and add 12 minutes to the install time. Hell, 12 minutes is enough time for a **** break and 2-3 beers!

had that steering wheel on my 5.0......awesome. it makes the inside of your car smell good for the next couple weeks too, which is an added bonus.
