Putting Cobra brakes on the 96' and suspesnion Need help with interchange parts
Hey everyone;
I finally bought some stopping FRONT power for the 96' sixxer but I need some help on interchange here.
I have a set of 97' Cobra brakes and a set of 03' Cobra brakes. I know the 03's are the better choice not to mention they have 27k on them where the 97's have quite a bit more.
I have a complete front K-member that came with my Mach 1 crate motor back in 04 and I never used it, no miles on it at all.
I know the Mach 1 used the same brakes that the 03/04 Cobra used so I know they will bolt on just fine.
Now can I take those spindles/hubs and A-arms and put them on the 96' without having any problems?
I also have the steering rack from the Mach 1 and would like to use that too as it is also new.
I also heard that the Mach 1 used the same A-Arm as the Cobra and has a slightly better turning radious.
Will I also have the same track width if I install the Mach 1 Spindles and A-Arms that I would have with the 96'?
I also have the Cobra steering rack which has a lot of miles but it has steeda end links, are those interchangable?
The shocks that I am using are Tokico Illumina's from the 97' Cobra and H&R springs from the cobra. I also have MM CC plates from the same Cobra.
Now I have another car that could use Cobra brakes as well, a 71' Mach 1 in which case the conversion kit will accept both callipers.
Could I use the 97' Cobra callipers on my Mach 1 spindles/hubs without any modifications or fabrication needed?
Thanks again everyone, I am just trying to make the best choice here and know what my interchange options are, I would really like to use the Mach 1 knee assemblies as they are new.
