Default Are all manual 94-04 V6, GT, Cobra driveshafts the same length?-03' cobra on a 96'?

Hey everyone;

I got killer deal on a complete 2003 Cobra IRS with brakes and only 27k. I heard that the mounting flange from the driveshaft to the diff is different than a GT or V6.

I found a 03' Cobra driveshaft fairly cheap at a wrecking yard and I wanted to know if its the same length so that I can use it, are all the driveshafts the same length reguardless of transmission? Is there a guide out there to show me the lengths?

Is the input shaft also the same?

This is for Aprils 96' Sixxer being that her stock 7.5" rear is very worn from suspension to brakes.

btw, the price I got for this thing included front brakes too and was still cheaper than the cheapest LOCAL 96-98 Cobra rear that I could find. It also has the stock 3.55 gears which is fine for now.

Thanks everyone.

Also I know the width is a little wider, how will that affect the tires hitting the fender well?

We will be using two sets of rims, 03/04 Mach 1 stock rims and 03/04 stock Cobra rims. with stock tread widths.

The only time it will ever see larger is the off change we put drag radials under it.

Also would changing the yokes make it work? I still have the V6 driveshaft of course :P

I read about a 2003 cobra that swapped to a solid axle and his driveshaft was pulled out of his trans 3/4" more than with the IRS meaning that the IRS is placed closer to the trans requiring a shorter driveshaft. He solved the problem by changing to the GT yoke.

Correct me if I am wrong about something here, I really need help on this and dont want to start the swap and get stuck in the middle and have no car.

call american powertrain and they can help you. Great guys and they know their stuff.

Anyway, i believe the cobra drive shafts are like 1" shorter as the T-56 is approx. 1" longer than the t-45,T-5, ect...
As far as the flange goes i have no idea. I am suppose to be recieving my T-56,drive shaft,ect.. tomorrow and i will look for you if you do not have the answer by then.

You can use your pinion from the GT on the IRS.

Ya, I read a wright up how to change the pinion's and it seems like a couple things can go wrong. I dont think I would want to mess up the new IRS :P
