Default New to mustangs...need a lil bit of advice.

Hey all-

Im new to mustangs and am thinking of grabbin me a 00-04 GT and am wondering how much N/A i can get from it? Im looking to make it a high 12's low 13's and am lookin to keep this fairly reliable. I come from the world of imports and currently have a 3000gt tt. it was fwd and even though its built, traction is a problem and so is reliablity. What kind of power do the GT's put out stock at the wheels and is it possible to get 325-350whp out of it? Im not really looking to dig into the motor much but MAYBE a cam in the far future if i can reach my goals. Im browsing around and see a few helpful threads, but figured its best to just ask...

thanks for the help

Welcome.

Find a relatively stock 99-04 GT and throw a 100 shot on it. This will get you really close to your HP goals and it's fairly cheap.

99-04's come with roughly 215-225rwhp, and have 2 cams. These are OHC engines, unlike the pushrod 5.0's.

welcome. the only way to 350rwhp without going internal is supercharging or Nitrous.

With just basic bolt ons (no heads or cams) a different rear end gear, and a set of drag radials, you can easily pull a low 13. There would be no digging into the motor this way, and it would be cheap and reliable as well.

A 100 shot will get you 350+ hp cheaper than any other route.

here is what i had dont at the time and it landed me a best E.T. of 13.1@105.

bbk longtube headers, o/r h-pipe, flows (dumped) intake, 4.10 gears, vt stage 1 n/a cams and m/t et streets. this is also on a completely stock suspension. witha good setup suspension you can be in the 12's easily with this set up. oh yea its a 5spd also. bone stock i was able to run a 14.065@98.89. thats completely stock from the paper filter and stock tires.

now i have bigger fuel injectors, svt focus fuel pump, and a nx plate kit (100shot) and still on stock suspension i pulled a 12.3@114.

best way for 350 horses is nitrous or s/c. I'd say find a nice Gt and if you like it, do a few bolt ons and if they arent what you want get the nitrous or s/c'er. heck i think you should try out the new trickflow heads, i wanna see what they can do lol.

Heres some threads i posted that might be of some help to you.
