Is there really a difference in subframe connector brands?

I'm placing the order on SFC's tonight am trying to decide if brand really matters. I can't see that it does but just want to make sure. Thanks.

yea me too...i want some for my cobra..let me know what brands you are looking at i am curios..i want to get the bolt in ones due to ease of install or so i think....i dont know how to use a welder nor do i honestly want to pay to get it done...i am thinking about th eBBK bolt in ones, becasue i think they are only $109 for bolt in..

spetsnaz103 04-15-2009 07:11 PM

say no to bolt in. youll benefit more by getting them welded. im thinking of going with bbk or kenny brown.

Jazzer The Cat 04-15-2009 07:48 PM

Go full-length, as spets recommends.

Look into Maximum Motorsports and Kenny Brown. Of course (everyone who knows me KNOWS this is comin' :D)....

he he he :D

Black_GT_02 04-15-2009 08:17 PM

haha, i've seen that pic of your car before. very impressive.

are the ones on americanmuscle generally the same metal and thickness? i would think that would be the main concern since lots of people just weld up their own SFC's

DVS_Z28 04-15-2009 08:19 PM

i got the UPR weld ins for pretty cheap. worked good for me

ddeganich 04-15-2009 09:05 PM

I got Global West Connectors and welded them in myself. Easier than I thought it would be, toughest part was making sure the suspension was fully loaded.

livefast1 04-15-2009 09:46 PM

made my own with thick gauge box steel, only cost me 16 bux if i remember correctly.

Mustang_NTriangle 04-15-2009 10:05 PM

maximum sports full length and they need to be welded in. I would spend the extra $$$ as this is one mod you will never replace.

Blk003GT 04-15-2009 11:21 PM

what sfc do i use for my vert?

black35th 04-15-2009 11:30 PM

+1 for MM SFC's. Make sure when you weld them on that the full weight of the car is on the suspension. A "drive on" lift is your best bet. If you do it with your suspension unloaded you will run the risk of essentially welding the car crooked.

Your 'vert already has SFC's, although it would never hurt to upgrade to some beefier ones.

99 GT vert 04-15-2009 11:38 PM

the vert has a short sfc and it would be good if you upgraded to a full length sfc

5.0 85 GT 04-16-2009 09:00 AM

ok so a drive up lift is waht you need then huh...ill have to find a shop and i guess ill get the MM

Blk N Wht GT 04-17-2009 06:51 PM

I hear MM is good but I went with Steeda. As long as they are weld in and full length, then you really can't go wrong. I love my Steeda SFCs.

Red2002GT 04-17-2009 07:04 PM

I love my MM full length.
I think the cross pieces that reinforce the seat area are a big help.
That and the pan hard are probably the best value per $$$ spent on my car.
No more butt wiggle and snap coming out of corners at speed.
My friend Jim likes em or at least I think he does from what he said in my car last time.
"Wheres the OH! S@#$ handle, how can a mustang not have an OH! S@#$ handle?"

MM and Steeda SFCs are basically the same. They both are full length and they both have the cross pieces underneath the seat.

Haven't checked out the panhard bars but it seems that they are worth the money.

My friends agree, why don't Mustangs have Oh Sh!t handles???????

Agreed... Spend the extra money OP and buy the ones that need to be welded in. Also alot of people take the carpet out of there car for fear of it catching on fire. I didn't and I had no issues...

I've never heard about taking out the carpet. I didn't either and there was no problem at all.

GT350H 04-22-2009 02:16 PM

Maximum motorsports, full length, welded in. Consider their Panhard bar as well, it improves cornering TREMENDOUSLY!

When I thought about putting the subframes in my car a couple guys here told me that I would have to take the carpet out . A few welding shops here told me they wouldn't touch it unless I take the carpet out (I was pissed). Luckily I found some one here that could do it for me without ripping out the carpet.

another +1 on the MM sfc
