Motion to sticky gear related information in both sections

Whos with me? Im usually not one to complain, but the recent gear threads have been driving me crazy.. 3 things that need to be addressed in a sticky go as followed : 3.73s vs 4.10s, Install kits and whats actually needed for the install, and which shops are known to be good/cheap to do the install.

The search function is usefull, but doesnt get used enough, or correctly.

I am all for it, but it will never solve the problem.

I think this is an awesome idea for newbs like me :) I think 3:73's are all around good gears for the strip daily driving and so fourth its what im going with for me rear end rebuild? And I would also like to see what the installation is like for my rebuild i will take plenty of pics and I'll post them in here! :)

I voted yes. I dont think it will matter. Somebody will still post about it.

It's probably not a bad idea but it should include actual data. Saying such things as "Don't fear the gear" or "there is no gas mileage loss with 3.73s" is misleading at best. A lot of things depends upon the specific driving application and since FAQ are very general in nature, it will probably not stop the gear threads.

Besides, reading a thread where someone posts "Don't fear the gear," followed by "I'm FI and wish I'd gotten 4.10s," followed by several posts from people who have actually taken their 4.10 gears out is not only kind of humorous but its educational as well. Those who have taken their 4.10s out fully explain why.

Ha, well I guess this was a fail thread... Mods feel free to shove it up my ass
