lowering PSI t the track
I know that there's probably a thread on here with this info already but I searched for 15 mins and couldn't find one. Anyways, I am going to the track later tonight in hopes for beating my personal best of 13.5
How much PSI should I run in my 315/35/17 Nitto DRs where I can hook better and still be safe? My current times were done with normal tire pressure launching at 2,000 rpm. I'm looking to be where I can slip the clutch at around 3k or so and hook.

Ok well firstly what is your "normal" tire pressure?
I have 275/40 Nitto DR's on 17X9's and I've read around quite a lot to run them at no higher than 22-24psi on the street otherwise the insides start wearing faster.
At the track I've tried different pressures and spoke to many people and most people put it to about 12-16. I keep mine around 14-15cold for best results. It is completely safe so you don't have to worry about that.
The key with the Nittos is you gotta do a really long burnout and get them really hot to hook

Ok well they have been at 40 psi. sense I bought them... I did lower it at the track to about 30 psi and it didn't really do much. I did a decent second gear burnout and still didn't have much success... I think I'll let it a little lower next time and see what happens.
I think I'm going to invest in some slicks when I get the money though.

Ok firstly I would NOT, NOT run them at 40psi on the street....you're not even suppose to run street tires at that PSI. Take them down to 18psi first if you are too uncomfortable with doing down too low for the first run.
I would not go higher than 26psi on the street too

i would start out about 22 psi and go from there
but on the street i would go no lower than 28 and not higher than 35
if you run them to low they will wear on the outsides to much and if you over inflate them they will wear on the inside to much
