I know this topic has been beaten to death, but the search feature didn't answer my ?

Has anyone ever taken the SAME car SAME driver and SAME track and compared times with 3.73 VS. 4.10 gears?

I'd like to know how much of a difference there is in the two.

I want 4.10s but my mechanic is begging me to go with the 3.73s. He says that the 10s are way too overkill for driving around my area (twisty mountain roads).

Sure, dimebag was running 13.4s, 13.3s with 3.73s on motor. He switched to 4.10s and now does 13.0s on motor

Yup, this is true. Well worth it imo. And no 4.10s would be nice for mountain roads. I think it wuld be a benefit

i went with 3:90s simply b/c they allow you to still have somwhat of a first gear and somewhat better cruising rpms than 4:10s. a good alternative if your stuck, but imo, 3:73s are the better choice
