Are you Stationed in Anchorage, Alaska? My Friend just got Stationed up there last month (Army) We Just finished his STI Before he left...

He said he made friends with two other Subie Drivers (they are in the AF). The First weekend he went up there there was a Rally X... SO he is LOVING it lol!!!

Incase you have seen him (Silver STI, Blacked out headlights, Mudflaps, Built motor, Turbo Back Exhaust)

Tires and brakes are the most important part in my opinion.

Depending on whether you are going to be doing SCCA or with a club that runs SCCA style classes, you may have to watch your mod lists. FLSFC's will throw you into a really high class. Even wheels/tires that are wider could throw you up a class.

The list Hoss gave you would be a good start. I would look into Bilstein HD or the MM valved sport series if you are running H&R Race springs. That is what they recommend for those springs rates.

To be honest, other than a few basic mods like tires, brakes, etc. You just need seat time. Seat time is more valuable than mods. Don't go out expecting to just rip on people including your friend in the S2K though. That will take some skill. The S2K is a very nimble car and can pull some great times when driven well. With experience and the driver mod it is possible though. You just have the disadvantage stock for stock.

Is your friend S2K an AP1 or AP2?

Tires are the most important. If you plan on competing at all you need to pay attention to what mods will put you where. If you want to stay in F Stock all you can do is air filter front sway bar and cat back, maybe midpipes i don't remember. I autocross my car and its bone stock at the moment. The full sub frame connectors will bump you up a few classes.

I agree with the driver mod 100%, but remember.... this is ALL about fun! *whoo hoo smiley*

Others are right that FLSFC's, "R" tires, wide wheels etc... WILL bump you up in class. Personally, I could not care less about what class I am in as I am just about comparing my OWN runs and improving my skills. On my first AX day out, I improved about 8 seconds from my first to last run. Now I certainly won't continue on that pace for the rest of the season, but enjoyed looking for a couple tenths here and there to get through a little faster. I only hit a couple cones all day, so my focus was to run clean and pick up those valuable .01 seconds

Concentrate on the driver for now. Worrying about tires, shocks, brakes etc. will just take away from learning how to properly drive the car. The biggest gains are had by tightening the nut behind the wheel first.

An AP2 will be easier to handle for a newer driver just so you know. I am not sure how experience your friend is.
