Default Auto Crossing an 01 gt on a budget?

Well...all my buddies are getting into auto crossing lately. I figure it will give me something to do rather than just drag racing and am curious of if it' even worth trying to do it in a GT as a budget weekend racer? I don't plan to try and dominate or anything just want to do it for fun and sometimes try to put my friends s2k in it's place lol. What are some good budget mods to do? I know I will need some suspension mods and I was thinking gears would help alot as well. So Far I only have BFG Geforce sport tires I think they are, flow master weld ins, steeda sport springs, TF upper plenum and 75mm TB and K&N filter and am still waiting to get my x pipe. Brakes are stock crap that could use a budget upgrade of some sort...Is it worth it or should I no even bother? Just looking to have some fun and not break the bank!

Do full length sub frame connectors, H&R race springs with Bilstein shocks/struts and Hawk brake pads. Thats will get you in a good spot for about 1000 bucks.

You are gonna want to focus more on brakes, than motor. High HP is not the most important part. Miatas often take the prize as they can carry a lot of speed through the corners.

My list for you would be:

Pretty much the same as Hoss

Although, when your budget goes up, get some sticky meats and then figure to replace them at the end of the season if you REALLY get into it. My Toyo R888's are showing wear after one day. I plan to hit 4~5 more this season and figure I will need to replace them for next season

Before you go and get anymore mods go out and run the car. The most important part of running an autocross is the driver. Once you get consistant and can't go any faster then start looking at tweeking the car.

First time out, h&r ss springs, c/c plates, good tires.

You don't need much to beat your friends if you can drive.
