I am looking for an automatic trans for a crate 4.6 pony motor.
having said that it not for a mustang its for a ranger race truck, I dont know squat about mustangs and their parts.so i am having trouble getting infomation on the subject (wik -google- ask) help me if you can , laugh if you must

I got a rebuild 4r70w from goodfellas. It treated me pretty good so far with 6000 miles on it. I found them on ebay i'm sure you could find one there too.

I would either use a 4r70w or a 4r75w the 4r75w does have a stronger internals than the 4r70w but both should work fine for the app. Just put a trans cooler with whatever trans you end up using for added protection. Also go with a torque converter that has a higher stall than the factory one it will really help that ranger move quick. What rear end gears are you going to be running?
