Get a Teksid, you can get em cheap and they can handle BIG power, light also, 1000+whp.

only difference between the 03-04 cobra blocks and 01.5-04 GT blocks is that the cobra blocks have 4 bolt mains. They will both handle the same hp. The 4 bolt mains only help to prevent cap walk.

The Teksid is a good aluminum block and is great if you want up to 1400hp and light weight but if you are building a race car with over 1400hp better stick to the iron gt or cobra blocks.
