Default Modular Head Shop...

Has anyone dealt with them?? I am thinking of gettin a set of their Stage II heads with Stage 2.5 cams for my car which is going N/A all the way. I am going to have around 1500 bucks in every thing and "suppose to be" near 290-310 rwhp when tuned right. Let's hear your thoughts on this set-up or what you would do to get the same power.

Thanks Matt

Stage 2.5 is probably a bit much for your car. You would be better off using a stage 2 cam because the stage 2.5 is probably gonna have a little bit of ptv issues. So i would just stick to stage 2's.

I guy told me I would be fine with the 2.5's cause of the heads, but I don't know much about this stuff. It would be nice to get around 300rwhp out of the car N/A.

Heads don't impact ptv with modulars, pistons due. There's only two designs available for heads, Ford and Trick Flow. If the shop is telling you the heads are what matter, find a new shop cause their idiots.

It also depends on what cams you are referring to. (the word stage is kinda generic)

My suggestion, Go with CMS stage 2 NA cams. The profiles are on his site.

YOU ARE WRONG....

if you go to a set of good ported heads, you most liketly move to stainless valves aswell..

which dont have the lip that the stock valves do..

which means you increase your ptv clearance...

so when buyin heads, you gain ptv, while not because of the head design, you still gain it..

I have stock sized stainless valves in my car, and because of this, I have run 252 duration cams, and had no ptv issues...

A CMS rep (10inchterror) told me that a 2.5 would be a little steep for a N/A car. Ive heard it from other people as well. Id just go w/ a stage 2.

Piston dish does not affect PVT. Cam timing, specs. and valves do. If you have PTV it's on the edge of the piston on the quench band in modular motors. So the dish has nothing to do with it. I have my pistons notched on the quench band.

Here's where you see ptv in a mod motor.

^Well then it's a good thing I don't own a mustang race shop then, isn't it,lol. After I thought about it, when I posted I Kinda thought I was wrong but I like to commit to a statement I've already made. I'd rather be "WRONG" than wishy washy, lol.
