It doesn't matter as it's not really an upgrade from the stock converter if they have around the same stall.
link?....

If you only pay $299 for a lockup converter, you're going to be disappointed sooner or later.

Good information Justin. I did hear that 3200 stall still doesn't hurt your daily driveability and if it does maybe by like 1mpg. Also heard about the 700 under peak hp too. You might want to get it custom done for your specific specs/hp.

A lockup converter will act exactly the same as your stock unit at cruising speeds. Once it locks, it's no longer stalling. My '01, with a PI3600, stage ii n/a cams, and a 4.10 got 21 mpg on the highway.
Your buddies converter will not net you any gains, so why consider it? That converter's stall is only good for a s/c'd application, and even then only for a roots blower.
Check the specs for your cams. My stage II's recommended a higher stall like the one I went with.
BTW, you'll need approx. 11 quarts of synth trans fluid also. That's another $60 or so.
Oh, and you're going to need a good tranny cooler. I'd recommend a Fluidyne with a GVW of at least 24,000, or an equivalent unit. That's another hundy or so.

Just because he is your friend and it is a good deal doesn't mean you should buy it. Just tell him no, you are looking for something that is rated 3200 or higher. If his feelings are hurt, then tell him to grow a pair.

It sounds like he's not asking for advice, but more like he already bought his friends t/c and he's looking for concensus that he made the right choice, which is not going to happen. Maybe not, but that's the overall feeling I'm getting from this thread. No offense meant.
There's not much more sound advice that can be shared here. Take it or don't take it. It's your time and money.
Good luck either way.

Ditto, it sounded to me though that he was talking himself into it, which is why I said what I said.
