Larger s/c liquid intercooler?????

Ok, so i though i would ask. I've been trying to find some one who makes larger liquid intercoolers. Here lately in LA, it has been retardedly hot out, and the i/c that i received with the 2.8 kb is the same size as the 2.1 i/c. I really dont see this thing keeping this blower somewhat cool.I'm sure it would work, but rather upgrade to somthing a little bigger and better. I was wanting to know if yall knew of a company that makes larger liquid i/c's????A larger i/c should give the fluid more retension time in the i/c, thus better cooling effects. I cant seem to find anything other than the KB i/c....
Anyone got some info on this?

Thanks

Thanks anyway. Well it is at a stand still right now. should be ordering the fuel system next week along with a electric water pump. Still havnt ordered the heads yet. Trying to budget right now as my wife and i are going to Cabo, Mexico in august which = $$$.
So i have just been doing alot of researching trying to find exactly what i need to get ect... trying not to spend all my money on this and be broke for the trip.
Still have the stock s/b and trans in the car right now. Just waiting..
I have however completly disasembled the blower.( I will have to post pics of the internals as it is SEXY!!!) Going to either paint the manifold and s.c backing or have it powdercoated(black). Just havnt made up my mind as to which one i am going to do. Powdercoating it will look bad@ss but IDK if i want to pay a shop $$$ just to do it. I may just paint it myself and save the $$$ for something else. I just want the finish to come out nice and for it to last. Desicions..desicions... :)

i havent heard of anyone making a larger intercooler but i have seen this product called the Killer Chiller over on SVTP. it uses your a/c to cool the intercooler fluid, might be something you'd want to check out.

I thought KB makes the reservoir that goes into the spare tire well?

Also, IDK that people make a bigger intercooler for actually under the blower, but Fluidyne makes a bigger heat exchanger if that's what you're looking for

Oh, and BTW, while yes, that is one of the drawbacks of a Twin Screw (getting heat soak from the engine)

HOWEVER, just driving around, it won't be noticeable. The cool thing about boost is you only see a temperature increase while you're in boost, when you're idling or just driving, you won't see an increase to the intake temps.

One of the drawbacks to liquid, no matter how much you have in the resovoir or how much surface area the exchanger has, or the cooler in the manifold has, is that over time, the liquid will start to heat up, and that's not something you can change unless you stop every few miles and fill the resoivore up with ice water.

But yeah, just driving around, with a safe tune, you won't have anything noticeable to worry about. You'd be hard pressed to tell the difference at that level of 500rwhp and 520rwhp or even 560rwhp.

So if on the dyno, and while the intakes are cool, you're seeing 650+rwhp, I'd doubt you'd see less than 580+rwhp/tq on the streets, you'd hardly even notice it.

That's just my honest opinion though

I think Modadict (on this forum) has the KB 2.8L Mammoth, on basically what is the KR engine, and is seeing average intake temps, in boost, of like 170*, which is supposably good for a twin screw, and he said that was after driving for quite a while as well.

well they have the reservoir that is placed in front of the engine. But it only holds say 2 quarts if that. I plan to get the Moroso i/c expansion tank and the coolant expansion tank.

well that will be fine then. I know there is a guy on the corral forums that has the 2.8 on a 2v, so i guess i will try to get ahold of him and see what he says. If he agrees, then i wont sweat it. I would just rather be safe than sorry.

I got a question for you.... Have you ever heard about anyone running a vaccum pump on their engine???? I had seen it awhile back and have not really read into it a whole lot. Just wanted to know if it is worth it. Supposedely helps the rings seal better ect... claims something like 20rw gains? And keeps crank case pressure down.

Look into a bigger heat exchanger. Thats what will help with the fluid levels. Meth injection is always another way to keep intake temps down when in boost. Also, on svt performance there was that thing about using A/C coils to cool the intercooler fluid. I dont remember what the name of it was, but i think it was like icy res or something like that on SVTP. But id just do meth injection and call it a day.
