How much HP is too much?

Any amount of power is ok for a daily driver as long as youre sensible. I mean you can drive a car with 1000rwhp around all day as long as you stay out of boost. And you usually wont see that much decrease in gas mileage. but like i said, you gotta stay outta boost for that to happen.

I like the answer by GTS or whomever.
It OUGHT to be totally dependent on the driver.
When I FIRST got my car, 220-230 hp might have been a bit too much. Especially considering I had never driven a 5 sp before.
Now, the same hp or so is 'boring' to a certain extent.
Don't get me wrong, I still love pulling to redline in 1st and nailing 2nd to redline near 55mph or so, but it doesn't feel as scary as it used to.
I'm sure it's the same at ANY power level. Once you get it initially it's satisfying, then it becomes sort of blah. You still know it's fast, but you're ready for more.
How much is too much? Depends on the driver.

Honestly alot has to do with supension as well. I think Oxford is compensating for something, because to me 550+, hell even 450rwhp is a **** ton of power.
Like he said, if the car goes sideways, yeah, alot of power isn't a good idea, but if you can get it to hook, then you really wouldn't think much of it.
If he wasn't flexing the chassis so much without a cage, he'd have alot more speed, not to mention he already has a very good suspenion.

You can run 10,000 hp on street radials if you drive smart.
At the same time, stock HP is more than enough to roast off street radials if you drive like a maniac.
Having re-read your question, there are people that can't hook up stock HP on street radials. Once you're anywhere near 300 rwhp your best bet for hooking up is going to be drag radials.

what do you consider sticking?
I can drive the **** out of my car, but it impacts the clutch moreso than the tires.
Tires will last as long as the driver allows them to last,
but at the same time, maximizing your contact patch, locating the rear end, eliminating wheel hop, and a good suspension will allow the car to stay planted far better.
I'd bet you could easily DD 900+rwhp cars with a GOOD and well thought out suspension, and a damn, damn good strong clutch.
The clutch, in ^ that case, will take far more abuse than the tires will (if you know how to drive that is)
If you're running an auto, it depends on the stall speed, and whether or not the converter has lockup at WOT, or what lockup features it has.
But a well thought out set up can last perfectly on the street, no matter the power level.

One of my friends use to DD his 900 hp supra. Well it was 900 hp on race gas, on pump gas it was only like 700 rwhp. It wasn't that hard to drive. Hell i drove it around for a few days when he was out of town. It hooked up pretty descent partially because he had 28 inch MT drag radials on it. Originally it had nitto's and it would blow them off at 100 mph.
