Prices are from DTD...they can be had elsewhere for a little cheaper.

$220 may not seem like a whole helluva lotta cabbage, but 18s are 33% more expensive. Considering DRs wear out around 12,000 miles 17s are about $180 cheaper a year.

This is why I'm considering ditching my heavy Saleens for some chrome 03 Cobras.....

Then I look at the Saleens and fall in love all over again.
for that tire? Are you serious? You think that's a decent tire? Like really?

You want a DECENT 17" tire, not a piece of **** nitto, HERE

275/40/17's Goodear F1 GS-D3's, all four corners (the cheapest way to do a good set of 17's, staggered would be more expensive)

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=4

$936 for 4, WITHOUT mounting and balancing.

And that's for a street tire. Want to talk race tire?

$234 x 2 = $468

and 2 x $314 = $628
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=5

again, WITHOUT mounting, balancing, or even shipping for heavens sake.

So for the price of your 4 POS nitto's, it wouldn't even be able to buy a set of decent 17" tire

Oh, and that's for drag tires. You want a road race tire, you can tack another couple hundred bucks onto it

thanks for all the replies guys. I will try to hit on a few comments people made that I can remember:

Hoss, yes they are authentic and they are discontinued so I doubt I will ever get rid of them.

As for Saleens, I love the look but I couldnt do that to the Roush, lol.

I called around to about 5 places locally. Here is what I have so far.

The pricing is within a hundred bucks of each other

nitto 555
cooper tire
General Tire
Toyo Proxes

Some of you love nittos and other hate them. I want a tire that will last so I will likely stay away from nittos. I dont want to be buying tires again next year, lol. Toyo seems to have good reviews what do you guys think about them?

You sure put me in my place.

I don't see where I gave my opinion of Nittos anywhere, nor am I insulted that you feel they're crap....

I priced out Nittos simply for sake of comparison......giving you the opportunity to act like a douchebag is a welcome bonus. As righteous as GSD3s are (I'd have them right now if they didn't discontinue 265/35/18 in January), most guys here wouldn't think of spending that much on a tire, making that comparison urealistic.

I second this check out oewheelsllc.com they have tire combo packages for around $950 shipped. I think 18" FR500 or Saleens would look mean on your stang. The red would make them pop, I think the roush rims are boring personally.

I haven't read every page here but if i had the money i would get these wheels. They are 18x9.5 Work Emotion CR Kai wheels. I believe they are about $400 a wheel. So sexy though.

Nittos are great tires as far as I am concerned. For the life you get out of them they hold up well.

According to God's gift to Racing and Auto Douchebaggery up there a few posts, they suck and you're an idiot.

I'm running Toyo T1Rs right now....can't imagine Nittos being any worse. They'll probably be my next set up.
