Default My engine is not running well :(

I have a 2003 GT that has just over 80000mi on it. minor modifications. The engine is running horribly. Two weeks ago i noticed that there was a small irregularity in the idle, you could hear what seemed to be a small misfire coming from the drivers side exhaust. This past week the engine seemed to be missing a beat under acceleration, this became gradually worse. the engine had horrible power and sounded almost like the traction controll was coming on and off randomly, like one of the cylinders would stop firing for a while and then it would fire, this was dependant on how much throttle i was giving it. the engine then began to emit loud backfires when i revved it easily to about 1500 and let off. the engine threw a cylinder 6 misfire code so me and my friend switched the cylinder 6 and cylinder 5 coils and the problem went away for about 4 days but it is back now but it isn't throwing a code. What is going on here?

Did you pull the plugs and check them out?

i havent pulled all of them but i have pulled the 5 and 6 plugs they appear to be fine but the plug that came out of the #6 had this green residue on it that looked like dried coolant. i bought all new plugs about 3 weeks ago autolite double plat. today i put the stock plugs back in those two cylinders to see if it made a difference but there was no change

Well, are you getting any white smoke out the tail pipe? If so, I would say that your coolant crossover, or a head gasket blew. Potentially the crankshaft posistion sensor going bad.

You have a serious issue, my first thought after seeing the coolant would be head gasket. May need a mechanic to check it out for you.
