Exhaust decision

I also want to know what's the big deal about just swapping the mufflers? I mean why pay $200-$400 more for some new pipe? But also, I'm just trying to get a feel for how the magnaflow and flowmaster sound. I'm having trouble finding those on an otherwise stock application, or would a cat-back system with those mufflers sound almost identical to stock?

Just go on youtube. There are tons of clips with flowmaster and magnaflow (as well as many others) on otherwise stock cars!

The catbacks will sound close to the same but not identical. The reason why you pay more for the new piping is because the gain from the catback is in the size piping that they use. Stock is 2.25 inches in diameter. Aftermarket exhaust is 2.5 inches in diameter. It hollows out the sound more in my opinion and it gives you brand new piping instead of the corroded stock piping and welded in mufflers. Also, the welding of the mufflers in the stock catback will also promote rust around the welds and not as long of life out of the mufflers you welded in...especially flowmasters since they are aluminized steel.

For the many/good reasons mentioned above, you really should buy a full catback!

Do you have a digital camera??? Cus a lot of them record pretty good videos...well mine does but it can record hd videos and stuff. But im really anxious to hear the SSS exhaust system because nobody has sound clips out there yet. SSS should make a deal where you get $20 bucks back for making a video and posting it on youtube or something to start promoting the exhaust.

My car ran 12's N/A and 11's on N2O with Flowmaster 40's welded into stock tail pipes. Cat-backs are highly over-rated. I have tried several exhaust combos since and have seen no gains or losses on the track where it counts.
