Default T56 - top speed and rear gear choices

Hey guys with the T56 transmission my new gears ratios are going to be:

2.66
1.78
1.30
1.1
.74
.50

(Yes, I am almost certain that I ended up with the viper spec with the lower gears and not by choice but rather by a sales rep's mistake, however is there anyway to tell which spec it is for sure???)

Therefore changing the rear gears may be a necessity for me. I have already spent time reading about what you all prefer, however what I didn't see is information on top speeds ect.

I would like to know what my top speed would be in 6th gear. Does anyone know of an equation or something that I could use to figure that out? I am interested in getting 4.10 rear gears but I am not sure how it is going to react with the T56... I mean would 4.30s be a better choice because of the lower gear ratios in the transmission?

Your top speed will be far more than what your power will push you to, meaning you won't be limited by gear, in any way shape or form

why on earth would you need to know what your top speed would be anyway

4.30's or 4.56's will probably be better for you than the 4.10's. And yes, you got the viper spec because the only way you can get a 6th gear ratio of .5 is if you get a viper spec or put the viper spec 5th and 6th gears in your t56. And the first gear is pretty high too so thats a give-away right there too.

i dont know why everyone cares about top speed...i dont know what your into but most street races go from a low roll to maby 130ish. who cares if your car will go 220mph because you will never see it on the street

Take a look at post #8 of my T-56 swap thread in the sticky section of 4.6 Modular section. I have posted some gear ratios and such that may be of some help here, maybe not.

As for top speed.... 2000AZ is correct, you will be limited by HP not gear. I also agree that you would be best served with some low rear gears for a DD. Either that, or run yourself some high HP/T #'s

lol, I wanted to know what my top speed would be because I don't ever plan on going over 160 ever. I just wanted to make sure that by putting in 4.10+ that I wouldn't be limiting my top speed below 150 or 160, which is sounds like it won't. I completely agree with you guys, no one needs to go a billion miles an hour. I was just concerned about spending several hundred dollars on rear gears just to find that I couldn't go over 120 or something.

As for the horsepower/torque... It isn't ridiculously high, but I should be pushing numbers in the 400s once my current setup is properly dynoed.

Also: I got those gear ratios off of the internet, they are not the for sure ratios in my transmission. I am wondering if there is any way of physically looking at the transmission and telling if it is the viper spec or not??? The place that I got the tranny from was a little eh... off, so I am not sure which version of the T56 it is.

you can enter t56 and w/e rear gears you choose, but with 3.27s at 6500 rpm in 6th you will be at about 237 mph 5th 186mph 4th 147mph 3rd 114mph

with 410s 6500 in 6th is 189mph 5th 148mph 4th 117mph 3rd 90mph
